Pressure Safety Valves
Project Overview
Engineering Design Services provided comprehensive plant engineering support through the evaluation and revalidation of more than 100 pressure safety valve (PSV) and pressure relief valve (PRV) packages at a chemical facility in South Texas. This effort was essential to confirming overpressure protection, regulatory compliance, and the continued safe operation of critical process systems.
For each PSV/PRV package, EDS performed a detailed technical assessment beginning with a review of previous studies, design basis documentation, and calculations. Engineers evaluated credible overpressure scenarios, verified fluid physical properties, and reassessed valve sizing calculations using established flow rates from prior reports. These analyses were completed using finalized calculation tools to ensure accuracy and consistency across all equipment packages.
Field verification was a key component of the project scope. EDS engineers confirmed installed configurations to validate that design assumptions aligned with actual site conditions. Each evaluation concluded with a final report that documented equipment condition, calculation results, and clear engineering recommendations.
Throughout the project, EDS collaborated closely with site personnel to review findings, evaluate propose solutions, and support informed decision-making. This project highlights EDS’s depth of experience in plant design engineering for complex, operating industrial facilities.
