Turnaround Support
Project Overview
Engineering Design Services generated multiple work packages to be executed during a turnaround. After performing drone-based and ground-based laser scanning and processing the data, our team compared the existing work packages to the piping configurations in the field. An example of one of the many configuration issues that were found during the analysis was a weld-o-let in a different position on the work package than it was in the field. While modeling the piping, EDS adjusted the elevation of the weld-o-let to avoid replicating the issue. Illustrated in the top image, it shows the proposed solution against the scan of the original piping. Post-turnaround, EDS scanned the new configuration confirming the current installation matches the original proposed model which is illustrated in the bottom picture.
Key Achievements
-
Enhanced Safety: By performing all the site work via drone, our team removed the need for personnel to work at heights decreasing risk.
-
Operational Reliability: By laser scanning the entire unit, real-time data was provided, ensuring the client wouldn't have to rely on outdated drawings.
-
Improved Documentation: Provided the client with accurate as-built models to enhance future maintenance and design reliability.
